From Points & Miles to Travel Concierge: My Journey as an Independent Travel Agent

I remember taking a (very chilly) walk with my friend Em on my birthday last year when I was sharing with her that I was feeling the nudge to do something new, to make a pivot, and one of those options was becoming a travel agent.

At the time I still wanted my priority to be building my Amare business. The thing about Em is that she is so wise. She listened as I yapped in circles, weighing pros and cons and encouraged me to take my time in making a decision and to mull over all my options over the next several months.

I’m actually not very good at making slow decisions lol.

But that’s the thing about good friends. I know she knows me well, wants the best for me and since being quick to make decisions isn’t my default, I decided to heed her advice.

And within a few days, a podcast episode dropped in my lap about “travel hacking” and I started to teach myself about the world of points and miles.

I quickly realized that most people fall into one of three categories:

  1. The Points Obsessed – The ones like me who love a strategy, open new cards regularly, and rack up those fat welcome bonuses to take as many nearly free trips as possible.
  2. The Practical Travelers – They want to open a couple of the right cards, earn some points, and use them to cut costs on a family vacation or weekend getaway.
  3. The Deal Seekers – They’re not interested in using credit cards (or can’t right now) but still want help finding the best cash prices, hotel packages, or cruise deals.

That’s when it hit me — no matter which group someone fits into, they still want the same thing: to travel more without breaking the bank.

So I decided to become an independent travel agent, or as I like to call it, your personal travel concierge.

Now, whether you want help planning your first trip on points, booking a cruise or resort getaway, or just figuring out the smartest way to use what you’ve already earned — I’m here to make it simple, stress-free, and actually fun.

Travel doesn’t have to feel out of reach. I’ll help you get there for way less. 🌍✈️
