Day 3: Boarding the Voyager of the Seas — Ice Cream, New Friends & a Hot Tub Night

My day started wide awake at midnight because of jet lag🤣 but I watched another episode of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and was back to sleeping in no time.

We woke up early-ish and headed up to the roof of our hotel where we ate complimentary breakfast and had great view of Athens and the Acropolis. Europe’s breakfast and especially their coffee, is way better than what I’ve had in America. Granted, I haven’t done a ton of bougie hotel hopping but this breakfast was definitely notable!

We got packed up our quaint room and got a taxi to Piraeus Port where we found our ship, the Voyager of the Seas. We got to board at one of the earliest available times so we got to meander around the ship, people watch and read our books. Oh and eat endless ice cream cones take naps🍦

Walking around the ship was surreal. I’ve been on cruise ships before but all the build up and anxiety and excitement leading up to this moment was emotional. The concern about just making it on the boat was gone and we were there. Because of me and my hard work 😭

I know a lot of people have negative views or experiences of cruises but I love them. They’re floating resorts with all kinds of things at your fingertips. I love the idea of waking up in a different city every day and being able to experience all the fun things the ship has to offer.

The other thing I love is the diversity. People just at our dinner table represented Turkey, Austria, Spain, Canada and the U.S. and if I remember correctly our server, April, was from the Philippines. I just think it’s such a great representation of the world we live in and all the wonderful people we get to interact with along the way.

After dinner, instead of going to a show, we spent some time in the hot tub and called it an early night after calling our kiddos when they got home from school.
